Sustainability in Seven Languages
The VAT Group reports on sustainability to investors, customers, and approximately 3,000 employees worldwide. The 2025 Sustainability Report brings together strategy, key metrics, and supporting evidence in a single publication, and its summary reaches every employee in their own language.
One report, three parts
The Sustainability Report is published as a standalone document alongside the Annual Report and follows the same organizational structure. The more than 100 pages are divided into three sections: “Strategy and Governance,” featuring a foreword by the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the CEO, highlights, the business model, the sustainability strategy, and the organization; “Facts and Figures,” containing performance data; and “Appendix,” containing supporting documentation. Each section begins with its own introduction and a detailed table of contents.
People, Planet, Performance
The data section is organized around the three pillars of the sustainability strategy: “People” covers talent management, health and safety, human rights, working conditions in the supply chain, inclusion, and social impact. “Planet” addresses climate change, water, and energy. “Performance” combines profitable growth with the circular economy, resource-efficient technologies, resilience, and governance. A materiality matrix derived from the dual materiality analysis, an organizational chart of the sustainability organization, and an overview of objectives translate the structure into visual representations.
Evidence, Not Just Statements of Intent
The highlights begin with this year’s awards, including BREEAM Outstanding for the new plant in Arad, LEED Gold, the EcoVadis Silver Medal, Fair-ON-Pay Advanced, and membership in the Responsible Business Alliance. The cover shows the solar array on the new factory building in Arad, with a peak output of 900 kWp, which covers up to half of local energy needs. Over 90 percent of the electricity at all production sites comes from renewable sources.
Pictures from the production plants
The chapter dividers feature photographs from Haag, Penang, and Arad, bringing the topics to life: heat recovery at the new plant, the briquetting of metal waste, new water coolers in Malaysia, and the separation of packaging materials. Each photograph includes a caption that explains its connection to the chapter.
Summary in Seven Languages
The “Summary Sustainability Report” summarizes key highlights, the business model, strategy, goals, and governance, and refers readers to the full sustainability report for more detailed information. It is published in German, English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Malay, and Romanian. This ensures that every employee can read the report in their working language - from The Hague to Penang and Arad, as well as at the sales locations in China, Japan, and Korea.
Entirely digital
Reports and abstracts are published exclusively online. The layout is designed for on-screen reading and for sharing as a file, with linked tables of contents and cross-references between publications.
